Comparative analysis of the cutting performances of SiAlON ceramic, cubic boron nitride and carbide cutting tools for titanium machining

Abstract The efficiency of machining operation is partly a function the cutting parameters, such as speed, depth cut and feed rate. With an effective performance any tool, manufacturing industries will remain competitive hence strive to meet dynamic service functional requirements expected material. Hence, purpose this research experimentally perform comparative analysis performances SiAlON, ceramic alloy consisting elements: silicon, aluminium, oxygen nitrogen; cubic boron nitride (CBN) carbide tools, during titanium process. A face milling was performed on computer numerical control (CNC) machine from these three different types for determination forces, temperatures, vibrations produced surface roughness, achieved (Ti-6Aℓ-4 V) alloy. response methodology adopted possible combination parameters practical experimental results responses.
